In the latest State of the Word Address Matt Mullenwig shared, “This has been an exciting year for WordPress. We’ve grown to power 14.7% of the top million websites in the world, up from 8.5%, and the latest data show 22 out of every 100 new active domains in the US are running WordPress.”
When you look at these numbers it needs to be made clear that these aren’t just newly-launched blogs; these numbers include all types of websites from ecommerce to social networks. The stigma that WordPress is just a blogging platform needs to go away. People need to know and understand how powerful of a CMS WordPress is and, in the right hands, what it can do.
We’ve made no secret that we are big fans of WordPress here, from our blog post on Boston Innovation to the fact that I was a contributing author to the WordPress All In One book. We’ve deployed WordPress for tons of clients and will continue to do so. I’m looking forward to the day where we aren’t selling that WordPress is more than a blogging platform and just selling the additional features that we will need to include with a site built on this commanding and effectual CMS.
Congrats WordPress and Matt. We look forward to your continued growth.
